Senior Polymer Engineer

The position of Senior Polymer Engineer is available at a rapidly growing company that focuses on advancing additive manufacturing technology. The role involves designing and commercially manufacturing highly customizable materials and products, ranging from medical devices to luxury fashion.
The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced scientist/engineer who will contribute to the development of novel polymer and processing methods, catering to diverse performance targets for customer products. The candidate should be self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and be enthusiastic about collaborating with a dynamic team to deliver material solutions for top-tier brands worldwide.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise and Research:
- Develop new photopolymerizable resins for 3D printing that align with customer requirements and can be processed through the company’s unique and proprietary 3D printing technology.
- Formulate Design of Experiments (DOEs) for polymer development, utilizing experience and subject matter expertise in the field, and perform statistical data analysis on gathered data.
- Develop, execute, and refine work instructions related to resin creation, characterization, and materials testing.
- Independently troubleshoot issues during task execution and innovate during unique or novel project situations.
- Conduct thorough literature reviews and obtain references of the closest prior art before initiating new project work.
Collaboration and Project Management:
- Collaborate with customers/company team to translate customer requirements into design inputs and subsequently create and execute a program for design verification for projects requiring materials development.
- Lead a project team, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of objectives.
- Develop concrete plans for deliverables and timelines, collaborating with project managers and reporting to leadership in a clear and timely manner.
- Demonstrate strong collaboration skills for effective teamwork with other teams and departments.
Leadership and Additional Responsibilities:
- Mentor and train less experienced staff, sharing expertise and knowledge in the field of polymer science.
- Communicate complex polymer science concepts and processes effectively to both team members and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or an equivalent field, with at least 5 years of experience (preferably in the photopolymerization field).
- Experience in statistical data analysis using software such as JMP or Minitab for Design of Experiments, ANOVA, Regression analysis, Model fitting, etc.
- Experience working in a team within a stage-gated project management process to deliver products.
