At the intersection of automation engineering, computational design, and polymer science, this company designs and commercially manufactures highly customizable materials and products, ranging from medical devices to luxury fashion.
Joining the dynamic Platform Engineering Team, the Senior Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing the automation and stability of the additive manufacturing process. With a primary focus on measurement, instrumentation, sensors, and controls, the Senior Engineer employs a systems design thinking and engineering approach. The goal is to ensure a stable and reliable manufacturing process, contributing to the overall success of the in-house developed manufacturing platform.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize control systems for additive manufacturing machinery.
- Develop and integrate measurement and instrumentation systems for accurate process monitoring.
- Utilize sensors and feedback mechanisms to advance control and automation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Take ownership of module test benches for process monitoring and development.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems, instrumentation, and automation.
- Collaborate with and contribute to firmware, electrical, and mechanical engineering design development efforts to enhance overall system functionality.
Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Controls, Automation, Robotics, or a related field.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in controls, automation, or process engineering.
- Proficiency in automation programming (e.g., Microcontrollers, PLCs, C++, Ladder Logic, Python, MATLAB).
- Strong understanding of measurement systems, instrumentation, sensors, and control strategies.
- Experience with process test benches for monitoring and development.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and systems engineering thinking.
- Effective collaboration in a sprint-based, fast-paced, and agile team environment.
Optional Skills:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Controls, Automation, Robotics, or a related field.
- Experience with additive manufacturing or 3D printing technologies.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 principles and smart manufacturing.
- Experience with ROS, Linux, Docker, GraphQL, AWS, React, Notion.
- Familiarity with machine learning applications in process optimization.
- Project management skills for overseeing process development initiatives.
