The Process Engineer is responsible for overseeing production processes and driving improvements in Key Process Indicators (KPIs) through the application of Continuous Improvement methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Initiate and complete projects aimed at improving KPI metrics related to Quality, Safety, Delivery, and Cost, ensuring a significant return on investment.
- Provide daily production support, including managing suspect material, initiating Engineering Change Requests for process modifications, and participating in cross-functional problem-solving teams for addressing internal or external/customer concerns.
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), process routings, and process rate data for assigned production parts.
- Review and update production process documentation, including operator work instructions, control plans, check sheets, flow charts, and PFMEAs.
- Manage projects related to acquiring and installing new production/process equipment, providing training to team members during the introduction of new processes or equipment.
- Develop production processes for product changes, ensuring targets for safety, quality, delivery, and cost are met or exceeded.
- Collaborate closely with New Product Launch Engineers in the development and transition of new parts.
- Adhere to the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program when operating a vehicle for work purposes.
- Support and promote continuous improvement goals and organizational values, following the policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred) or a related technical field.
- 2 years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering within a production environment.
- Preferred: Automotive production experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Preferred: Previous experience with an ERP system.
- Demonstrated track record of accomplishments in continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma), product launches, capital equipment purchases, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
