Senior Additive Manufacturing (AM) Materials and Process Engineer
In the role of Senior AM Materials and Process Engineer, the individual will play a pivotal role in advancing aerospace and AM technologies. The engineer will lead the development of innovative processing strategies for a variety of alloy classes, utilizing laser powder bed fusion technology. Responsibilities include overseeing internal development projects, government-sponsored research, and customer material and part qualification campaigns. The engineer will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, conduct experiments, characterize and test materials, and analyze data to inform development efforts. This position reports to the Director of Materials and Manufacturing Technology.
Key Job Responsibilities / Results:
- Serve as a resource for internal and external customers on material and feedstock selection, developing best practices, and sourcing guidelines.
- Create design experiments and develop files for laser powder bed fusion printing equipment.
- Manage lot tracking, inventory transactions, and storage/mixing procedures for powder feedstocks, assessing new vendors and their products.
- Oversee all material and powder testing for research and production purposes.
- Enhance organizational competencies in additive manufacturing processing and characterization, including equipment assessments and acquisitions.
- Operate characterization, testing, and additive manufacturing equipment.
- Develop material databases and marketing material for newly qualified materials.
- Lead the development and revision of powder, material, and process specifications.
- Drive internal efforts to improve quoting, printing, laboratory, and post-printing processes.
- Research end users’ needs through communication with sales, clients, and internal stakeholders, including potential travel to trade shows and customer sites.
- Over time, mentor, teach, and serve as an engineering technical resource for the organization, including junior employees, technicians, interns, or co-ops.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Previous Additive Manufacturing Experience
- High degree of proficiency in materials testing and characterization.
- Experience with laser powder bed fusion equipment.
- Eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
