Maintenance Technician Position in Machine Tool/Metal Cutting Industries
With over 100 years of history in the Machine Tool/Metal Cutting Industries, this prominent player is undergoing significant growth in its grinding business. Currently, there are four expansion positions available for Maintenance Technicians to support installed machines at a large U.S. customer facility. The Maintenance Technician role involves providing support and repair services at customer facilities in the Springfield, OH area, with occasional support in Eaton, OH. The position will cover overnight 12-hour shifts to ensure optimal machine performance.
Key Requirements:
Education:
- AAS in Electronic Technology, Machine Tool Technology, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in troubleshooting and repair is required. Alternative levels of education/experience will be considered.
Specific Technical Knowledge:
- Knowledge of machine design and operation, mechanical/electrical repair practices, as well as grinding processes, materials, grinding wheels, dressing tools, and tooling is preferred.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills on machine and machine controls, CNC, and PLC.
- Ability to read parts manuals, electrical and mechanical schematics, assembly instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
- Familiarity with operating and setting up CNC equipment.
Location:
- The position is based in Springfield, OH, with the ideal base location between Springfield, OH, and Eaton, OH. Living within one hour of Springfield, OH, is acceptable. Relocation assistance is available. Occasional travel (during normal shift) to other facilities in Eaton, OH, may be required.

Responsibilities:
- Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems of grinding machine tool product line.
- Provide diagnostic support for supported products, performing customer service visits on both warranty and non-warranty products.
- Shift work as required, including rotating 12-hour overnight shifts.
- Demonstrate and instruct techniques, methods, and procedures for grinding machine tool equipment and related attachments and accessories.
- Communicate and coordinate with customers on upgrades to machines and equipment, handling engineering requirements for special options or updates.
- Coordinate service activities with customers until all quality issues are resolved.
- Support other field service staff by sharing knowledge and information and coordinating activities with departments as needed.
