Field Service Technician

The Field Service Technician performs routine support activities in the field service function on manual milling machines, CNC milling machines, lathes, saws, grinding, and metrology equipment. Responsibilities include installing, performing periodic maintenance activities, basic troubleshooting, and repairing routine technical, mechanical, and electrical equipment failures in the field. The technician assesses and responds to situations using standard procedures and reports design, reliability, and maintenance problems through field service management software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of milling machines (manual & CNC), lathes, saws, grinding, and metrology machines either in the service center or on location at a customer site.
- Completion of all required reporting of service work performed, time sheets, and other reports as set forth by the Field Service Manager.
- Ensure all training and certifications required for the position are maintained in an up-to-date and timely fashion.
- Ensure spare parts stock level in the service van is kept at specified levels, and the service van is maintained in a presentable condition.
Education and Experience:
- Must live in MN, WI, IA.
- Associates degree or equivalent college or technical school; 2 years relevant experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0 – 5 years prior experience in a similar/related field.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
- Moderate levels of product knowledge, preferably obtained through hands-on experience.
- Basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system troubleshooting skills.
- Basic understanding of machining/milling/metrology.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic schematics, and ladder logic.
- Ability to use a variety of basic electrical testing/diagnostic equipment and have a basic understanding of AC and DC electrical theory, as well as the ability to use precision measuring instrumentation.
- Proficiency in MS Office and business applications.
- Effective communication, interaction, and collaboration with others.
- Commitment to safety; communicates safety concerns and promotes a safe work environment.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Adherence to all Company policies and procedures.
