Area Sales Manager

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) holds primary responsibility for the sale of company products, providing innovative solutions to customer work requirements on the company’s machine tools. This position reports to the Regional Sales Director for the development of prospective accounts and retention of current customers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Building and fostering customer relationships.
- Promoting the sale of company products and providing technical sales support.
- Collaborating with Applications Engineers to assess equipment needs.
- Developing, presenting, or responding to proposals for specific customer requirements.
- Recommending improved materials or machinery to customers.
- Proactively visiting customer facilities to review outstanding engineering and service-related problems, including strategic review of sales opportunities with a minimum of 25 visits per week.
- Proactively visiting customer facilities to resolve difficult engineering issues.
- Reporting requirements: Weekly submission of Territory Planning and CRM reports. Timely submission of expense reports per policy requirements.
- Semiannual visits to OEM factories in Japan, Germany, Italy, and China.
- Developing strategic and tactical plans to achieve yearly sales goals.
- Partnering with engineering staff for demonstrations.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimal Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited university and 5+ years of B2B relevant sales.
- 2-5 years in B2B sales/Business Development.
- Recent experience in machine tool environments is preferred.
