Additive Manufacturing Equipment Operator
Salary Range: $85,000 – $115,000 per year.

Position Overview:
The Additive Manufacturing Equipment Operator contributes to the mission of democratizing vehicle design and manufacturing. Operating within the Additive Manufacturing team, this role involves utilizing current and next-generation Additive Manufacturing (AM) equipment to produce metal components and support the development of novel AM processes.
Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and enhance additive manufacturing machines to optimize part quality, machine up-time, and throughput, aligning with schedule expectations.
- Manage consumable supplies, including procurement and maintenance of powders, hand tooling, build plates, process gas, filters, etc.
- Ensure traceability of documentation for all assigned tasks through standardized file systems.
- Perform equipment troubleshooting and maintenance under the guidance of service personnel.
- Change materials and clean out equipment as necessary.
- Set up machines for next builds using standardized methods and checklists, contributing to the development of such standards for new equipment.
- Provide leadership to junior operators and trainees, fostering their independence in all machine operations (Senior Operators).
Basic Qualifications:
- 0-10+ years of experience in industrial/manufacturing environments, with a focus on heavy industries like automotive, aerospace, oil & gas, etc.
- 0-10+ years of experience operating laser powder bed fusion/selective laser melting metal AM equipment or other modern industrial equipment (plastic 3D printers, CNC machine tools, casting/foundry equipment, etc.).
Skills:
- Highly motivated with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-moving, startup environment.
- Knowledge of SLM Solutions type AM equipment, such as SLM500 or SLM280, is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to train others as required.
- Effective interface with engineering and manufacturing groups to accomplish production tasks.
- Familiarity with the implementation and practice of quality processes in an ISO 9001, AS9100, and/or IATF 16949 environment.
