Additive Manufacturing Engineer

The Additive Manufacturing Engineer assumes responsibility for the efficient and timely execution of projects, builds, and opportunities, both internal and external. The individual in this role is tasked with supporting opportunities throughout their entire lifecycle while ensuring a competitive edge for the organization in the marketplace.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting technical reviews on commercial opportunities for risk planning, timelining, and delivery.
- Executing technical aspects of accepted opportunities, encompassing:
- Design of supports and supplementary bodies, including Design for Additive Manufacturing.
- Creation of routing documents to ensure proper manufacturing of the part.
- Creation of accurate print files with meticulous attention to detail.
- Appropriately assigning material melting “recipes” to achieve a quality product.
- Understanding and supporting quality standards and requirements.
- Coordinating with operations and commercial teams for projects and opportunities.
- Acting as a technical expert in the shop regarding all manufacturing activities.
- Collaborating with Materials Engineering to support R&D projects.
- Troubleshooting build and machine failures.
- Undertaking other activities as assigned.
Preferred Skills
- Design for Additive Manufacturing.
- Understanding of plant routing systems.
- Familiarity with specifications such as ISO, AS9100, AMS, etc.
- Knowledge of Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) process or related fields such as welding.
- Understanding of Laser Material Processing.
- Experience with machining and post-processing methods and technologies.
- Proficiency in CAD design software such as NX or Solidworks.
- Experience with Build Processors such as Magics, 3DXpert, or Additive Manufacturing Management systems.
- Understanding of testing methods and requirements.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Additive Manufacturing or a related field.
- B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
